Project Overview

A custom stain developed to match light, space, and material.

This project focused on developing a custom stain that couldn't be achieved with standard off-the-shelf options. The client wanted a tone that would complement their modern interior, natural light, and surrounding materials — from the quartz kitchen island to the open-concept staircase.

We worked through multiple samples and adjustments, refining the stain to achieve a balanced, natural finish across all White Oak flooring areas — including the main level, hallways, and upper floor. The result is a clean, cohesive look that enhances the space without overpowering it.

Scope of Work

What we built for this project

01

Custom Stain Development

A bespoke stain formula developed through multiple samples to achieve the exact tone the client needed — balanced against natural light and surrounding materials.

02

White Oak Hardwood Flooring

White Oak flooring installed across the main level, hallways, and upper floor — finished with the custom stain for a seamless look throughout.

03

Kitchen Cabinetry

Custom wood cabinetry built and finished to complement the flooring tone and the quartz island — keeping the kitchen grounded in the same material palette.

04

Stair & Railing Details

Wood stair treads and railing details integrated with the flooring finish, maintaining visual continuity across levels in the open-concept layout.

Challenge

Developing a stain that no standard product could match.

The client's modern interior called for a specific tone — warm but not orange, light but with depth. Standard off-the-shelf stains produced results that either pulled too yellow or too gray against the home's natural light and quartz surfaces. The stain needed to be built from scratch.

Solution

Refined through samples until the color was exactly right.

We developed a custom White Oak stain formula through an iterative process — testing samples in the actual space under real lighting conditions. Once the tone was locked in, we applied it consistently across all flooring areas, cabinetry, and stair details, delivering a finish the client couldn't have found anywhere else.

Result

A clean, modern interior with a stain built for this home.

The Lake Washington Project is a precise example of what custom stain development can do. Every flooring area, every cabinet surface, and every stair detail carries the same intentional tone — light, warm, and consistent from the kitchen to the upper hallway.
